Coyote
We have many coyote pairs inhabiting the sanctuary acres. Once they were hated and shot on sight by ranchers. Today there is still an enormous amount of ignorance surrounding this animal. For us they perform a very important role in the sanctuary ecosystem, rodent control. Coyotes are allowed to hunt our fields unharmed. They keep the rodent and rabbit population in check which keeps the range grasses healthy.
