Callie

Callie

While fueling up at a local gas station a customer walked up to me and introduced herself. She had noticed the Border Collie I had in the car (Red) and wanted to know if I would consider taking in a purebred red Border Collie puppy.
Apparently she was a local breeder of working border collies who had sold the puppy a few weeks back. The puppy's new guardian was attentive and kind and named the ball of energy Callie. But, the guardians’ husband was not so thrilled and one day while "mom" was at work, he took the unsuspecting puppy up into the mountains and left her there.
When "mom" got home that evening she was distraught to discover the puppy missing and set about searching the neighborhood. Eventually the husband confessed and in order to save his marriage he went back to the scene of the crime and retrieved frightened little Callie who was still near where he left her, a miracle in and of itself. Callie was then returned to the breeder who had Callie in her car when she stopped for gas.
Now, I don't take in every dog that I hear about or is offered to me, but neither do I shrug off the callings of fate. I took the puppy. The three of us; me, Red and little Callie headed for home.
Callie is a very sweet girl who can be adopted through the Northern California Border Collie Rescue.
UPDATE...Callie has been adopted.
