Meet Diesel!
Diesel is a wonderful 1 year old black lab mix who is obedience trained/completely house broked, and is
wonderful with kids, other dogs and cats. But Diesel has been through a lot in his short life. He was taken in by Rescue Paws at 5 weeks old when he was found in an abandoned building with his mom and 3 siblings. Mom and pups were put into a foster home but the foster mom gave them away. The police got involved and the mom and pups were returned to Rescue Paws. He was then adopted when he was 8 weeks old and in violation of the adoption contract, was given way to another family in August. When he went to his second family, he started jumping fences, so this family gave him away to yet another family. When he jumped their fence, no one went looking for him and he spent over a month on the streets until someone called animal control. Since he is microchipped Rescue Paws was contacted. He was then put into a foster home where he started jumping her fence. He was then moved to a home where the fence was 8 ft high and was adjacent to another home. He not only jumped this fence but was found him on the neighbors roof!! He then tore up the car seats of yet another foster family and when he was finally adopted again the adopters brought him back after afew days.
Needless to say his separation anxiety is pretty bad. When we read Diesel's story we wanted to help. It only seemed right since we already have Diesel's mom with us. Welcome home Diesel!
UPDATE....
Diesel's first week at the sanctuary was interesting and challenging. We have over 2000 acres. The first time he was allowed off the leash it only took him 10 min to run the complete perimiter of the property. He then got under the horse trailer and ripped out ALL the wiring and during his first car ride chewed the seat belts in half. But no matter what he did we kept working with him with no thought of giving him away. Now Diesel can stay in the car alone without turning into demolition man, leaves the wiring alone in the ranch vehicles and successfully lives with us in the house. With a stable home he has turned into a great dog. But he can still run the property in 10 min.
